Insurance
Many major New York State insurance companies accepted!
Hart Intuition Nutrition is credentialed with many major private insurance providers in NY state. Most private insurance companies typically cover nutrition counseling services with a registered dietitian as a preventive service. This means there are usually no out of pocket costs to the client! All insurance plans are different, so please contact your insurance provider before scheduling your appointment to verify your benefits.
I am credentialed to directly bill the following insurance providers:
-
Aetna
-
Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York
-
CDPHP
-
EmblemHealth
-
Excellus
-
Fidelis (the Fidelis Medicaid portion does NOT provide any coverage for nutrition services)
-
MVP (Cigna)
-
UnitedHealthcare (including the NYS Empire Plan Network, effective 4/1/2023)
If Hart Intuition Nutrition is not credentialed with your insurance provider, you will need to pay for your counseling session before/at the time of service. Jena can then provide you with a superbill (an itemized invoice) upon request that you can submit to your insurance company after our session for possible full or partial reimbursement.
Instructions on how to verify your covered nutrition services:
Call the number listed on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions to help you better understand your covered services to avoid unnecessary costs:
-
Does my plan cover nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN)?
-
Registered Dietitian/Nutrition CPT codes: S9470, 97802 & 97803 or G0270; 97804 if doing a group session
-
-
Are telehealth visits with RDNs covered under my plan?
-
Do I have any nutrition counseling benefits under the preventative care portion of my plan?
-
You can ask for them to specify which ICD-10 codes are covered for RDNs (such as Z71.3, Z72.4 or E66.3).
-
Does there need to be an additional ICD-10 code for the visit(s) to be covered?
-
-
-
Do I need to have a referral from my physician?
-
How many RDN visits are covered per year?
-
Do I have to meet a deductible before insurance will cover my visit?
-
Do I have a co-pay or will I need co-insurance?
-
Is Jena Hart/Hart Intuition Nutrition a covered provider under my plan?
-
If not, what are my out-of-network nutrition benefits?
-
*If you are aware of any nutritionally relevant medical diagnoses (i.e. Diabetes, Hypercholesterolemia, Hypertension, Renal Disease, Liver Disease) that you have from your physician, or if you have a known eating disorder diagnosis from your psychotherapist/psychiatrist, it is preferred to have your provider fax over a letter documenting this to Jena Hart/Hart Intuition Nutrition @ 518-730-7620 (note: this is a HIPAA compliant fax number).
